Wedding Guest Outfits

We have a family wedding next week and I have been given the daunting task of dressing my mother and mother in law.

Firstly, my mam. pretty easy job as I have been dressing my mother for years. I already know what she likes and what suits her shape. So I ordered three dresses from Dorothy Perkins confident that she would like one:

Turns out I know my mother far too well and she’s gone and kept them all! But for the wedding it is the Printed trapeze dress as she can match it up easily with shoes and a bag in black.

Then there’s my mother in law. A much trickier task. I have never dressed her before but I know what she is comfortable in and she has already requested trousers, with nothing too patterned or fitted.

So I started with jumpsuits. I went for a Lace Trim Jumpsuit from Simply BeLittle Mistress Triple Tone Jumpsuit from Dorothy Perkins and a ‘wildcard’ from Marks and Spencer, this Daisy Jumpsuit.

The wildcard was justthat and a little too much for my mother in law, even though I thought it suited her to a tee and she looked amazing in it. She had warned me off any floral trousers and she wasn’t backing down even for this gorgeous number. The tripe tone jumpsuit was a little too short on the body but the lace black jumpsuit was a hit!

My mother was eyeing up the triple tone jumpsuit and when she tried it on it fitted her lovely (just a little too long in the leg, which could be easily sorted by my little sis!) so she decided to keep that too!

Just in case the jumpsuit would be too much potch for a long day, I also ordered from Wide Leg Trousers in black from Marks and Spencer. In a jersey fabric, they are comfortable for a long day, but the cut makes them look very smart.

A couple of options of tops from Dorothy Perkins landed us with a favourite – this Pink Embellished Bubble Top which I decided would be set off nicely with this Luxe Ivory Structured Blazer, also from Dorothy Perkins.

Once again this outfit would be easy to match with black accessories. End result, two gorgeous outfits and two very pleased mothers!

I wanted to post pics of the two of them wearing our final choices but they have both insisted on waiting until the big day as they would have their hair and make up done as well, so they will be up on the bog next week!
